Barmuda Acquires The Stuffed Olive

Cedar Falls – The Stuffed Olive, located in the historic Black Hawk Hotel on Cedar FallsÕ Main Street, is BarmudaÕs newest addition to its group of restaurants, lounges, nightclubs and event facilities.

Barmuda also will take over the space currently occupied by Community Main Street, as well as the area in the hotel between the Community Main Street office and the martini bar. Remodeling will begin shortly to connect BarmudaÕs adjacent Soho Sushi Bar & Deli to The Stuffed Olive, and give The Stuffed Olive its own entrance on Main Street. Barmuda is working with Community Main Street, which already planned to relocate at this time, to facilitate the organizationÕs move into temporary office space. Once remodeling is completed, BarmudaÕs presence on the 100 block of Main Street will increase from 1,900 to 3,200 square feet.

ÒBuck Clark, The Stuffed OliveÕs original owner, has created an amazing concept,Ó says Barmuda owner Darin Beck. ÒThe smoke-free atmosphere and huge martini menu have a loyal following, and we plan to keep those exactly as they are.Ó The concept will be expanded, however, to include a tapas menu and a larger selection of wines and premium spirits.

ÒÕTapasÕ is a Spanish term for Ôsmall plates,ÕÓ Beck says. ÒTheyÕre appetizer-sized portions of entrees, with lower prices, so that people can sample multiple options and share dishes.Ó

Barmuda will partner Soho with The Stuffed Olive to expand each conceptÕs offerings. SohoÕs entire sushi and beverage menu is now available in The Stuffed Olive. The Stuffed OliveÕs martinis will now be served in Soho, as will the new tapas menu, which will be launched by April 1.  In addition, The Stuffed Olive will be open during lunch and will serve SohoÕs menu.

ÒBarmuda views this venture as a strategic acquisition to increase our presence on Main Street and bring yet another fresh and exciting food and beverage concept to the already eclectic cultural district thatÕs emerging,Ó Beck says.

The tapas trend has taken off across the nation in recent years, and in keeping with BarmudaÕs mission to bring world-class cuisine to the Cedar Valley, The Stuffed OliveÕs menu will feature globally influenced tapas selections.

Soho Sushi Bar & Deli, which opened in July of 2005, offers New York style deli and California style sushi, as well as sake, beer, wine and desserts. SohoÕs sushi menu has just expanded to offer several new Maki rolls.

Once the remodel is completed, Main Street will have two unique food and beverage concepts that are not only connected to each other, but also serve each otherÕs menus. ÒSohoÕs sushi and beverages will be available in The Stuffed Olive, and The Stuffed OliveÕs martinis and tapas will be available in Soho,Ó Beck says. ÒWe are very excited to be able to bring The Stuffed Olive concept into partnership with the Soho concept. The Stuffed OliveÕs smoke-free atmosphere, martini menu and prices will remain as they are now. But we will have the bigger and better Stuffed Olive completed and ready to go long before Sturgis Falls.Ó
