Beck Announces Immediate Assumption Date for Pipac Centre On The LakeÕs Event Centre Along with Plans to Open FerrariÕs Ristorante in Former BenaÕs Location

Cedar Falls --  Negotiations are final, the lease has been signed, and Darin BeckÕs new company, Park Place Hospitality, LLC, will move in and take over operations of the restaurant and event center at Pipac Centre on the Lake on Monday, August 29, 2005.

The new date is more than a month earlier than originally planned. ÒOctober 1st just wasnÕt a practical date,Ó says Beck, who owns and operates Barmuda Corp. and five other restaurant and nightclub concepts in the Cedar Valley. ÒToo many people needed to know the status of their employment, and the bottom line is, we donÕt want the event center to skip a beat.Ó

ÒWeÕve already begun booking new dates, and all former bookings are a go,Ó Beck says. Most of the current staff has retained their jobs, and the center will be adding a substantial amount of new employees.

The event center will become known as Park Place Ballrooms & Event Centre at Pipac Centre on the Lake. The restaurant will become FerrariÕs Ristorante, an authentic Italian restaurant. Slated to open in October, FerrariÕs will feature steaks, seafood and Italian fare in an upscale yet casual atmosphere. With a lunch menu featuring fresh Italian panninis (sandwiches) and a wide variety of other lunch fare, FerrariÕs will be the perfect place for a quick lunch or a more relaxing business luncheon.

The extensive dinner menu will offer only the finest steaks, fresh seafood and authentic Italian dishes. Like Bourbon Street and BeckÕs other establishments, FerrariÕs will not have a dress code. ÒWe want FerrariÕs to be everybodyÕs restaurant,Ó Beck says. ÒUpscale, yet casual and fun. ThatÕs important to the long-term success of the operation. But maybe most fun of all will be the classic Ferrari Testarosa we hope to find and showcase. WeÕll use the car for promotional events and let people get their pictures taken with it at the restaurant,Ó Beck says.

Meanwhile, Beck has assembled a highly qualified staff of key personnel for Park Place Hospitality. Marge Hirdler, who has been with Barmuda Corp. for more than three years and has been Vice President of Operations for two years, has been named Director of Operations for the facility. Matt Smiley, BarmudaÕs Director of Operations, will help oversee the transition and facilitate launching the restaurant. Jesse Buck, who has been with Barmuda Corp. for five years and has been General Manager of BeckÕs Sports Brewery since 2003, will serve as General Manager. Chris Graham has been named Executive Chef.  Graham has worked for five-star hotels, convention centers, country clubs and catering companies in the Denver, Colorado, metro area for 15 years. A Waterloo native, heÕs been with Barmuda for a year in various culinary positions. Most recently, Graham helped get Soho opened and has been rolling sushi since opening.  Natalie Cummings, a Cedar Falls native who has worked for Birchwood Hospitality and G.F. Management in hotel and event center sales and marketing management for six years, will manage the new Sales and Marketing department for Park Place Hospitality.

The Ballrooms, Gallery, Rotunda, Veranda, meeting rooms and Executive Boardroom are now available for booking. The restaurant will offer a private dining room as well when it opens in October. Those interested in booking or employment opportunities may call Park Place Ballrooms & Event Centre at (319) 268-7299.
