Coconuts to Close After New YearÕs EveÉ

As Next Generation Prepares to Take Over

Cedar Falls, IA (December 11, 2007) – Darin Beck, President and CEO of Barmuda announced today that after four years since opening its doors, Coconuts Beach Club is closing to make way for a new generation of nightlife. On New YearÕs Eve, Coconuts will be throwing its final party by celebrating New Years Eve with a blow out event featuring a New Years Eve package that includes complimentary drinks all night, along with the areaÕs best DJÕs and Q92. Doors will open at 9:00 p.m.

ÒSince closing ShagnastyÕs four years ago, it hasnÕt been the same,Ó commented Barmuda President and CEO, Darin Beck.  ÒI have felt something was missing at Coconuts since the beginning, and I feel itÕs the true nightclub experience that ShagÕs used to provide. The new venue will definitely capture that metropolitan late night swanky club feeling. But maybe whatÕs going to be more interesting than what the club will become, is whoÕs doing it. After 25 years in the nightclub business IÕm feeling like the time has come for me to pass the baton to the next generation, and nothing could please me more than to have my son, Travis Beck, be that person along with a seasoned team of nightclub professionals.Ó said Beck.

ÒTravis will have a stake in the new club and will oversee the entertainment side of the operation. In addition, we are fortunate to have Kyle Dehmlow, a proven leader in the industry direct the new club. Kyle is BarmudaÕs Director of Night Club Operations and he will be deeply involved with the project. Kyle will ultimately oversee operations at the new club. Joshua Meyer will be the clubs new General Manager. Together they bring a tremendous amount of experience to the new venueÓ, said Darin.

Travis Beck is excited to follow in his fatherÕs footsteps by starting a club at the same age as that of his father at 19 years old.  ÒThe name of the new venue and its theme will be announced on New Years Eve at Midnight during Coconuts final event,Ó commented Travis.  ÒThe new venue will target young adults with an emphasis geared toward people in their 20Õs. IÕm sure people over 30 will enjoy it too, but the new venue will cater to a younger crowd much like ShagÕs used to do. The new club will have a very modern and trendy look that will be part of what brings that big city Vibe back to the Cedar Valley.Ó

ÒI truly believe the new venue will be everything people have missed since ShagÕs closed four years ago,Ó stated Kyle Dehmlow.  ÒThe new venue will not be modeled after ShagÕs, but the energy will certainly remind you of it. IÕve spent my entire adult life running nightclubs with Darin Beck and IÕm very excited to get the new venue up and going. Nightclubs are my passion, and for me this has been a long time coming.Ó

The new venue will still have a Barmuda connection, but will most certainly take on a character all its own. One last teen party is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 1st. The final party will be a New Years party on New Years Day for teens. WeÕre going to give area teens one last chance to party at Coconuts before remodeling begins on January 2nd.
